Hand painted sign restoration

A considered restoration for signs with history, character, and details worth preserving.

A More Personal Way to Preserve Your Sign's Character

I begin by studying the sign as it is, noting its lettering, colors, materials, wear, and previous repairs. This helps me distinguish between details that should remain untouched and areas that need careful intervention. The restoration plan is shaped around the sign's age, condition, and visual identity.

Cleaning, surface preparation, color matching, repainting, and fine retouching are handled with patience and control. I aim to refresh the sign without making it look newly manufactured, keeping the irregularities and hand painted qualities that give it meaning. The result is a more legible, stable, and visually complete sign that still belongs to its original story.

Ideal For

• Historic shopfront and business signs

• Family, estate, and community signs

• Faded lettering with original details

• Signs needing sensitive visual repair

How It Works

1. Sign Review: I examine photographs or the sign in person and discuss its history and condition.

2. Restoration Plan: I recommend a practical approach for cleaning, repair, repainting, or retouching.

3. Careful Revival: I complete the restoration with matched colors, controlled brushwork, and respect for the original design.
